Drive your Ford to Starved Rock State Park

Starved Rock State Park

Summer is the perfect time to take a road trip and soak in the beautiful outdoors. If you’re looking for stunning waterfalls and trails, Starved Rock State Park in Illinois, is the perfect destination.

Starved Rock State Park became the first recreational park in Illinois, in 1911. As a result, the park has preserved its 18 majestic canyons and protected the wildlife, which includes deer, otters, eagles and more. It has been voted the #1 attraction in the state of Illinois.

To best explore the park, hike the 13 miles of trails, which take you along the Illinois River and to the canyons. There are also breathtaking waterfalls in 14 of the canyons. If you visit during the winter, you can even witness icefalls in the canyons.

For a more relaxing adventure, take a water cruise along the river or join a guided tour. When hunger strikes, enjoy the food at one of the park’s three restaurants. Starved Rock State Park also offers comfortable accommodations in the historic lodge or cabins.
